Jack Quinby is a freelance trombonist, band leader, music director, conductor, composer, clinician, adjudicator, and contractor. 

As a freelance trombonist he has performed with dance bands, orchestras, chamber groups, traveling shows as well as a number of his own groups.  Recent performances include Portland Opera performances of Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute, Carmen, Aida, and La Traviata as well as traveling Broadway shows A Chorus Line, Annie, 42nd St. and The Producers. Among the artists with whom he has performed are Bob Hope, The Moody Blues, The Temptations, Natalie Cole, The Four Tops, Pat Boone, Robert Goulet, Carol Channing, The Manhattan Transfer, and Joan Rivers.

His CD Beautiful Bones has garnered critical acclaim and achieved commercial success. Since its release it has remained in the top 3 of CdBaby’s Top Seller list for Orchestral Jazz. Recorded with a full symphonic jazz orchestra, the record features Jack, fellow trombonists Bill Watrous, Jeff Uusitalo, Stan Bock, and Coro trombones de la Americas, as well as vocalist Shirley Nanette. Videos of the Beautiful Bones CD Release Concert have had over 100,000 viewings.

The release of Beautiful Bones has created a demand for Jack as a solo performer.  He has recently performed as guest soloist with the George Fox University and Clackamas Community College concert bands, and high school concert bands throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Jack teaches applied studies at George Fox University and coaches its low brass choir.

Rod Stewart, Mannheim Steamroller, and Il Divo are among the acts for which Jack has served as orchestral contractor.

Jack is a member of the Columbia Brass and Big Horn Brass ensembles, and is often engaged in recording projects in his studio. He is the Musical Director for John “The Voice“ English and his show, A Tribute to Frank Sinatra.
