Jack Quinby is a freelance trombonist, band leader, music director, conductor, composer, clinician, adjudicator, and contractor.

Jack keeps busy tending to his many musical activities.  As a freelance trombonist he has performed with dance bands, orchestras, chamber groups, traveling shows as well as a number of his own groups.  Among the artists with whom he has performed are Bob Hope, The Moody Blues, The Temptations, Natalie Cole, The Four Tops, Pat Boone, Robert Goulet, Carol Channing, The Manhattan Transfer, and Joan Rivers.  Traveling shows include The Producers, Sunset Blvd., 42nd Street, Ice Capades, and Disney On Ice.  Recent performances include Portland Opera performances of Don Giovanni, the Magic Flute, Carmen, and Aida.

Jack’s CD Beautiful Bones has garnered critical acclaim and achieved commercial success having spent all of 2007 on the CdBaby Top Seller list. Recorded with a full symphonic jazz orchestra, the record features Jack, fellow trombonists Bill Watrous, Jeff Uusitalo, Stan Bock, and Coro trombones de la Americas, as well as vocalist Shirley Nanette.

The release of Beautiful Bones and the reorchestration of some of the charts have opened up opportunities for Jack to perform as a guest soloist with concert bands and orchestras.

Jack was a music educator for twenty-five years teaching band, choir, electronic music and general music in public and private elementary and secondary schools.  He currently teaches low brass at George Fox University.

Rod Stewart, Mannheim Steamroller, and Il Divo are among the acts for which Jack has served as orchestral contractor.

Jack currently performs with the Columbia Brass, Big Horn Brass, and is often engaged in recording projects in his studio.
